In my surreal self-portrait, I aimed to encapsulate my emotional landscape during the tumultuous year of 2020. I employed a complementary color scheme of green and red, symbolizing the internal growth I experienced alongside the heightened energy of the time. The central figure, a young woman with paint-stained hands, represents my artistic pursuits that served as a therapeutic outlet during the period of isolation. The juxtaposition of the woman’s inner world—a vibrant scene with a hot air balloon, clouds, and a beach—with the external reality reflects my yearning for freedom and exploration beyond the confines of my home. The large blue eye peering from the right signifies my altered perspective on the world through the lens of the pandemic. The image of two hands holding a globe, both wearing masks, serves as a poignant reminder of the global impact of the pandemic. A camera floating above her head symbolizes my passion for photography. Finally, the figure of a woman in a white dress falling from above represents the anxieties and uncertainties that plagued me during this challenging year.
